Community
By definition, Community is all about people who are linked by some trait. It could be geography governing body, or by some other identifiable trait. Some communities may have connections to more than one of these traits. The more a community is linked by shared traits the more harmonious it will be. This would expose the ridiculous sentiment that “Diversity is our strength.” It is not possible to find a community that has no diversity so, presumably complete harmony. Even if you did I’m sure the people who live in such a community would find something to squabble about like can Marguerite paint her house turquoise?
In most communities debate and compromise are the lubricant that keeps the peace. In the process of debate and compromise agreements are made on what is acceptable to all parties. Those agreements are laws. Rules by which all people agree to abide and conduct themselves. A community who has well-structured laws that are enforced with a mind of “and Justice for All” usually find that peaceful coexistence is possible. Community starts to break down when laws are not honored and enforcement is not fair and equal. Some are allowed to behave in violation of this social compact for one reason or another. Then as more laws are ignored the Rule of Law becomes unmanageable. This is quite evident in situations like the shoplifting crisis, the mass illegal immigration problem, the attack and disrespect of Law Enforcement, and the Government Fraud all that have become rampant over the last few years. This is also what happens when you lose the ability to debate and compromise hard lines start to be formed – fences, borders, walls, and more drastic police action is required to reign in the chaos.
At some point to start the conversation some agreement must be made on the starting point. What can we agree upon. It is usually some pre-established and recognized set of rules. Our western system of laws dates back to Roman Law and Canon law and much later the Magna Carta and most recently The Constitution, Bill of Rights, the 17 other Constitutional Amendments and the Judicial ruling on how they should be applied. Our laws have evolved over time and have not always ruled fairly with “and Justice for All,” but as flawed as the system is it is adaptive in nature and continues to evolve. Not all evolution is good clearly but it’s difficult to argue that improvement in societies behavior has been fairer as of late but it is threatened today by modern philosophies and diametrically opposed cultures that would impose their doctrines upon our communities.
What our communities are experiencing now is a close to a non-governmental tyranny as could be described. We are experiencing power being yielded by a small group in an oppressive and unjust manor. The demands are not demands tor the common good or the populace but self-serving and could be deemed as actions that would be contrary to the well being of the populace. This is dangerous that the few that rave in the streets against our elected officials and law enforcement if supported by governmental collaboration would pose grave ill to the General population. One should always be mindful of the Communities in which you align with because the fruit of a poisonous tree is poisonous fruit.
